Welcome all to my site! I have just self-published my first novel, Eye of the Magpie. It is available as a paperback or e-book at Amazon. And it’s available through other e-book sites like Apple iBooks, kobo, and Nook. For a full list, copy this link into your browser:
The novel was inspired by the reports of random murders on the news, that I heard as a new mother while living in rural Alberta. Those stories have always been at the back of my mind, this enigma of hearing about a grisly crime yet never hearing a follow-up story. Was the bad guy caught? Why did it happen? How are those affected moving on? Having a very fertile imagination, I can assure you I followed this down many a rabbit hole.
In the novel, I touch on a very sensitive and controversial social injustice, the value of our Aboriginal People in the eyes of our society. I do not presume to think this is a Canadian only problem. Just recently, in the news, there has been mention in the United States of missing and murdered Indigenous women. A second social injustice, the treatment of vulnerable youth, another group whose worth is often overlooked by society, is also explored with the details of the psychopath’s early childhood.
The novel itself is a suspenseful account of two young women who become involved in the uncovering of the identity of a serial killer operating in their neck of the woods. This is not an undertaking for the faint of heart. Especially once the psychopath becomes aware of their snooping and goes on a hunt of his own.
